Identifying age related problems in your companion
Senior dogs need more support with their joints, brain and general well-being. We founded PetExx because we wanted to share our passion for giving pets the best chance of a happy and healthy life, particularly as they age.
We were inspired by our rescue dog Tyler and his best friend Callie. They who both lived to a grand old age. We helped to keep them active in their senior year’s thanks to the help of healthy natural dog supplements. Tyler was a crossbreed who loved to run and Callie was a cocker spaniel who was typical of her breed – lively and inquisitive. Even when they were in their senior years, they loved nothing more than going for a walk.
When we spotted Tyler was getting slightly stiff joints, we visited the vet. He was prescribed anti-inflammatory pain-killers but we also chose to introduce joint supplements for dogs into his diet and gave them to Callie as well. Added ingredients like glucosamine, turmeric and green-lipped mussel are effective for supporting joints, reducing inflammation and keeping your best friend healthy and happy.

You should consider adding brain boosting ginkgo Biloba and omega 3 fatty acids to their diets but in controlled amounts. Just like with young children, you can sneak extra goodness into your older dog’s food. A simple way to do this is to feed your best friend cognitive supplements for dogs, Something with added ingredients to help them live a better life as they age.
You might also notice your older dog’s fur isn’t as luscious as it was when they were younger.
Their skin and claws can also change over time. These could be signs of other health issues, so it’s really important you consult your vet if you are concerned, just to be on the safe side. However, there are health supplements for dogs that provide extra nutrients that can help their skin and fur.
Omega 3 fatty acids are one of the most important supplements you should consider for dogs. They are a vital addition to their diet as they age. You can find out more about omega 3 and caring generally for an older dog from experts at The Kennel Club.
Having an older dog is fulfilling and as we found with Tyler and Callie, can be just as rewarding as having fun with a puppy. They lived to 16 and 17 years old respectively and never lost their characters and personality as their brain was still as sharp as ever.
They can be a source of love and affection and it is up to you to give them the best life possible.
